Older People at Westwood Church
We have various groups and activities for older people at Westwood Church. If you would like to find out more, please contact the church office.
Oasis
Oasis was started many years ago when there was little Christian presence at the Burton Green end of the parish. It is a coffee morning at which a range of speakers have given a Christian witness. Numbers have increased over the years and there has been a good change of people who came. All are welcome as it is a very friendly meeting. Most people now attend the monthly service at Burton Green.
Time Out
Time Out is a group of those who are retired or at home during the day to meet together socially once a month and to which we hope people will bring their friends and neighbours. Numbers coming to coffee mornings have been sustained at between 30-40, with the Strawberry Tea in Tom and Judy Walters’ garden attracting 60 people last summer. Outings to places of interest in the summer months are appreciated by those without their own transport. All are welcome to join us. We would particularly value help from anyone who could offer lifts.
Pop In
Pop-in is a group which meets in people’s homes in the Cannon Park area. In
the last year we celebrated the Queen’s 80th Birthday, visited
nurseries for ideas on garden tubs, a craft centre in Bromsgrove, had
speakers and quizzes – and enjoyed lots of meals out. The
bring and buy sale which included a Christmas Card collection gave a
split total of £60 each to the Air Ambulance and Global Care. Our
numbers are growing and rooms appear to get smaller! Prayers and ideas
would be much appreciated.
