St John’s Westwood Football Team
St John’s Westwood FC have been a side for over a decade, playing in the Coventry and District Church Football League. We play full football rules and are members of the Birmingham FA. Our home games are played at the Memorial Park in Coventry, usually on Saturday mornings kicking off at 10:30am. Training
Every Monday evening at Canley Sports and Social Club we train. We start at 8pm and finish around 9:30. To cover the cost of hiring the pitch the price is £3 for taxpayers and £2 for students and unemployed. It does not matter your ability, if you want to have a kick about come along. Our training sessions are intensive but informal, the focus on having fun and getting healthier as a result.
Outreach
St John’s Westwood Football is outreach and aims to reach the often neglected niche of young men, bringing the love of Jesus to the Nuts generation. The League recommends that 60% of players on the playing surface should be Christians, yet we often fall under this and during training it can be even less. In short we are over stretching ourselves as an outreach programme and need help! If you would like to play, coach or offer support in other ways please get in touch. Some support at games would also be appreciated so please take a look at the fixtures and if you can make it then come down and cheer on the lads. With your support we can succeed both on and off the pitch.
